In 1760, a magnificent
coach house and stables were built for Kilkenny Castle, seat of the Duke
of Ormond. Today the entrance building, with its arched gateway and copper
domed clock tower, is a landmark in this medieval city and is now home to
one of the finest shops in Ireland - Kilkenny Design Centre.
The Kilkenny
Design Centre is unique , both in ambience and style. Here under one roof,
you will find the very best of Irish design and workmanship, carefully
chosen from over 200 studios and workshops around the country. Everything
has been selected with genuine craftsmanship and value in mind.
Complete
the pleasure of this special shopping experience with a cup of freshly
brewed coffee or a leisurely lunch upstairs in our restaurant over-looking
the cobbled courtyard of Kilkenny Castle. Savour a snack of smoked salmon
with brown bread and a glass of wine or indulge in a piping hot Irish
stew with a glass of locally brewed ale.
Kilkenny
Design Centre Restaurant is open 7 days a week April 1-December 31. Closed
